Marmaris Boat Trips: How to Choose the Right Tour (and What It Really Costs)

Walk along the harbour any morning between May and October and you will see dozens of boats lined up, each with a board promising “the best coves”, “unlimited drinks” or “foam party”. From the outside they look almost identical. On board, they are completely different days.
Over the years I have been out on many of them with visiting family and friends, and the lesson is always the same: choose the route and the atmosphere first, and only then compare prices. This guide explains the main types of trip, what each one really includes and what it cost in 2026.
2026 boat trip prices at a glance
| Tour type | 2026 price (adult) | Approx. USD | Usually included |
|---|---|---|---|
| Classic bay cruise, soft drinks | ~800 TL | ~$16 | Lunch, hotel transfer |
| Classic bay cruise, with alcohol | ~1,300 TL | ~$26 | Lunch, transfer, local drinks |

Which boat trip should you choose?
1. The classic bay cruise
Best for: first-time visitors who want a relaxed day of swimming.
This is the trip most people mean when they talk about a “Marmaris boat trip”. Boats leave the harbour around 10:00 and return at about 16:00, stopping at four or five swimming spots. Common stops include Paradise Island (Cennet Adası), Aquarium Bay, the Phosphorus Cave, Turunç, Kumlubük and Amos, though no boat visits all of them in one day, and the captain will change the order or skip an exposed bay if the wind picks up.
In 2026, a classic trip with lunch, soft drinks and hotel transfer costs around 800 TL ($16); with local alcoholic drinks included, around 1,300 TL ($26). The swim stop at Aquarium Bay, where the water is so clear you can watch fish from the deck, is the one that always makes guests go quiet. For this kind of day, see the boat trip with unlimited drinks and BBQ lunch or the calmer relax boat trip to the islands and hidden bays.
2. The all-inclusive cruise
Best for: groups who plan to drink during the day and want one fixed price.
An all-inclusive ticket makes budgeting easy, but only if it covers what you will actually use. A typical 2026 package costs about 2,075 TL ($42) per adult and around 1,035 TL ($21) for children aged 7-12, with under-sevens free. That usually covers lunch, tea and coffee, soft drinks, local beer, wine, and Turkish vodka, gin and rakı.
Read the small print. Imported beer and spirits, cocktails, ice cream and snacks are typically extra. If you do not drink alcohol, a classic cruise with soft drinks is far better value. If it does suit you, here is an all-inclusive boat trip with lunch and drinks.
3. The pirate boat
Best for: families with children and groups who want a party.
Pirate boats are about entertainment as much as scenery: costumed crew, music, games and a foam party in the afternoon. Children love them. If your idea of a boat day is reading a book between swims, choose a different boat, because the music rarely stops.
A pirate trip with lunch, unlimited soft drinks, the foam party and transfer costs around 1,100 TL ($22) in 2026; all-inclusive versions with alcohol cost around 2,075 TL ($42). Check the child price and age band before booking.
4. Sedir Island and Cleopatra Beach
Best for: a mix of swimming and archaeology.
This is a different day from a bay cruise. You are driven from Marmaris to Çamlı harbour on the Gökova side, then cross by boat to Sedir Island, where the ruins of ancient Kedrai, including a theatre and city walls, sit beside Cleopatra Beach with its famous pale golden sand.
A typical 2026 package costs about 1,750 TL ($35) with hotel transfer, lunch and soft drinks. The island entry of €13 (about $15) for foreign visitors is usually paid separately. The beach is strictly protected: you cannot take sand away, and you must follow the rules on where to sit. Ask how much free time you get on the island, since some programmes allow only an hour or two. Details are on the Cleopatra Island boat trip page.
5. Hisarönü and Orhaniye
Best for: quieter waters and a different coastline.
The Hisarönü gulf is greener and calmer than the main bay, with islands and coves that feel far from the resort crowds. Typical stops include Kamelya Island and Dişlice Island, and some boats pass the famous Kızkumu sandbar at Orhaniye. Many tours leave from the pier at Çubucak rather than Marmaris harbour.
In 2026, the trip costs about 1,300 TL ($26) if you get to the pier yourself, or around 1,500 TL ($30) with a transfer from Marmaris. Some boats stop at Kızkumu only for photos, without swimming, so ask if that matters to you.
6. Dalyan and İztuzu
Best for: a full day combining a river, ancient tombs and a turtle beach.
Although sold alongside boat trips, this is a long day out. You travel by road to Dalyan, then board a smaller river boat through the reeds, past the Carian rock tombs of Kaunos carved into the cliff, to the mud baths and İztuzu Beach, where loggerhead turtles nest. A typical 2026 package costs about 1,200 TL ($24) with lunch and transfer; drinks are extra. Read more about the tombs in our guide to the Carian rock tombs.
Pick-up is early and you return in the evening, so do not plan anything else that day. See the Dalyan and İztuzu tour by boat or the turtle beach tour with lake and mud baths.
7. Moonlight and sunset cruises
Best for: couples and anyone who wants to spend the day on the beach.
Evening cruises are shorter, calmer and very romantic when the lights of the town come on across the bay. Most include dinner on board; in 2026 they cost around 900-1,400 TL ($18-28) per person. Do not expect the same swimming stops as a day trip, and check whether drinks are included. Two options: a sunset sailing tour with mezze and drinks and a sunset boat trip with swim stops and unlimited drinks.
Other trips worth knowing
For a gentle river and sea day on the Gökova side, the Akyaka boat tour with Yuvarlakçay and lunch is a lovely change of scene. With small children or non-swimmers, a glass-bottom semi-submarine trip shows the underwater world without getting wet.
8. Private boat charter
Best for: families and groups who want their own route, timing and music.
A private boat lets you choose where to swim, how long to stay and whether there is any music at all. In 2026, a 13-metre gulet for up to eight guests cost around 12,640 TL ($255) per boat for the day, which works out at about 1,580 TL ($32) per person in a full group. For a small group it is a real treat; for a couple it is expensive.
Always get a written quote that states the hours, passenger limit, fuel, crew, food, drinks, transfer and the cost of staying out longer. For multi-day gulet cruises, ask for a separate breakdown of food, fuel and port fees.
Ten questions to ask before you pay
- Where does the boat leave from? Marmaris harbour, İçmeler, Turunç, Çamlı and Çubucak are all different departure points.
- Is hotel pick-up included? If not, add the cost and time of getting to the pier.
- What does “all-inclusive” mean on this boat? Ask for the drinks by name.
- Which bays are planned? Treat the route as weather-dependent.
- How many swimming stops, and how long is each one?
- Are any entry fees extra? Especially important for Sedir Island.
- What happens if the weather changes the route or cancels the trip?
- What is the child fare, and up to what age?
- Is there shade, a toilet, a freshwater shower and life jackets for everyone?
- Is the price per person or per boat? Essential for private trips.
What to bring
- Swimwear, a towel and a change of clothes.
- High-factor sunscreen, a hat and sunglasses; the reflection off the water is strong.
- A dry bag for your phone, money and documents.
- Cash for drinks, tips and photos (many boats have a photographer on board).
- Water shoes if you plan to swim from rocky shores.
- Anything you need for seasickness; ask a pharmacist (eczane) before the trip.
Listen to the crew’s safety briefing, use the ladders they point out and stay within the swimming area they set. At the end of the day there is often a tip box for the crew; give what you feel the day was worth.
My quick recommendation
For your first boat day, take a classic bay cruise and check what lunch and drinks include. With children, a pirate boat is hard to beat. Choose Sedir Island for history and a beach, Hisarönü for a calmer coastline, and Dalyan if you are happy to spend part of the day on the road. Book a private gulet when flexibility and privacy are worth a per-boat price.
The best-value ticket is the one whose route, atmosphere and inclusions match your day, not simply the cheapest board on the harbour.
