“Is it expensive?” is the question I am asked most often by friends planning a trip here. The honest answer is that it depends almost entirely on your daily choices. A lahmacun for lunch and the bus to İçmeler cost a few dollars. A seafood dinner at the marina, three cocktails on Bar Street and a taxi home can easily cost twenty times that, on the same day, in the same town.

So instead of one vague “average”, this guide gives you real 2026 prices: what a meal costs on an actual menu, what drinks cost on Bar Street, the official taxi and bus fares, excursions, hotels and three sample daily budgets. Every price is shown in Turkish lira with its approximate dollar equivalent.

Food prices

To give you real numbers rather than guesses, here is what a typical mid-range restaurant in the centre, Egevera, charged on its menu updated in August 2026:

DishPriceApprox. USD
Breakfast plate (one person)575 TL~$11.50
Serpme breakfast spread (for two)1,150 TL~$23
Menemen (scrambled eggs with tomatoes and peppers)270 TL~$5.50

Pizza (plain / mixed)500 / 550 TL$10 / $11
Chicken skewer kebab550 TL~$11

Prices vary a lot by location. A traditional lokanta a few streets back from the sea, where the day’s dishes sit in trays at the counter, is the cheapest place for a proper meal, at around 300 TL ($6) for lunch. At the marina, dinner is closer to 1,500 TL ($30) per person before drinks.

The serpme breakfast is one of the best-value meals in town: a table full of cheeses, olives, eggs, honey, jams, fresh bread and endless tea, easily enough for two hungry people.

Two things to check before ordering: whether fish is priced per portion or per kilo (and how much the fish you chose weighs), and whether salads, bread and sides are included or charged separately. For dishes worth trying, see our guide on what to eat in Marmaris.

How to save money

  • Eat where locals eat. Lokantas and pide shops a few streets back from the seafront cost half as much as the marina.
  • Share a serpme breakfast rather than ordering two separate breakfasts.
  • Use the bus for regular journeys and save taxis for late nights and luggage.
  • Travel in June or September. Hotels and bars are noticeably cheaper than in July and August.
  • Pay in lira. When a card machine offers to charge you in pounds, euros or dollars, always choose lira.
  • Read the menu before you sit down, including the drinks list, and ask about fish prices per kilo.
  • Buy edible gifts at the supermarket. Turkish delight, spices and tea are often cheaper than in the bazaar; see what to buy in Marmaris.
  • Visit the Thursday market if you have a kitchen; fruit and vegetables cost a fraction of supermarket prices. See our Grand Bazaar and Thursday market guide.
